Each year the U.S. Department of Homeland Security awards millions of dollars in grant funding to fire and EMS departments throughout the United States.  One of the objectives of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program is to help protect emergency personnel from the hazards of their jobs.  One often overlooked, but very critical hazard, is being exposed to harmful diesel exhaust.

Most fire trucks and emergency response vehicles run on diesel fuel.  Diesel exhaust contains a combination of hazardous particulate and gaseous matter that, when inhaled, can cause cancer.  (See articles on diesel exhaust and cancer by clicking here)  You can protect yourself and your co-workers from the dangers of inhaling diesel exhaust by installing a direct source capture, apparatus-mounted exhaust removal system.  The Ward Diesel NO SMOKE system is the ideal exhaust removal system because it is completely automatic.  And, because it is apparatus-mounted, the exhaust system goes wherever the truck goes and can even be manually activated for on-scene protection.

Join the growing list of fire departments that have received Assistance to Firefighters Grant funding and have decided to protect their personnel with NO SMOKE!
